Further adventures of the life drawing dress

During October the Life Drawing dress went to the beautiful PowderMills Hotel for the Pure Autumn Art Fair.

Together with life model Frankie, one of the collaborators of the dress, we ran a 2 day drawing workshop as part of the ‘The Big Draw’

For those unfamiliar,  the life drawing dress was a collaboration between myself, Francesca Cluney and Emma Sandham-King.

After the show in Battle, the dress will be taken to Eastbourne for an exhibition organised by an A level student from Eastbourne College, Rebecca Nurse. The exhibition will feature paper, couture garments, painting, photography, stitch, drawing ceramics and jewellery by both professional artists together with artwork produced to brief by a selected group of Eastbourne College students.

Exhibition opening times: 11am- 5pm Sat 7 – Sun 8 and Sat 14 – Sun 15 November.

The Birley Centre, Carlisle Road, Eastbourne BN21 4EF.

I am currently planning 2 new embroideries and working on samples at the moment. I like the samples, they are little abstract works in their own right:

And finally, some of the drawings I made at the studio this month:

About Shelley Morrow

Since 2011 I have been predominantly a figurative artist with an interest in conveying expression, movement and gesture. I take the drawings I make and explore them through various processes, particularly embroidery, textiles and etchings. I graduated with a BA in Fine Art at Camberwell School of Art in 1990 and currently taking my MA in Fine Art at Brighton University. I also work at Draw in Brighton, running and teaching Life Drawing sessions
